One simple change can significantly improve your overhead squat and snatch!


The only thing I changed between the two pictures above was how I positioned the bar overhead. On the left, I had the bar well behind my head. On the right, I positioned the bar directly over my ears. This one change allowed for a more upright posture and improved overhead stability. Just look at my grimace in the picture on the left! 😬 My body didn't like this position, and I had to work a lot harder to stabilize the bar. You can also see in the videos below how much smoother and easier the squats looked when I had the bar positioned directly overhead.


This first video is with me holding the bar back behind my head as far as my mobility allowed.


This video is with me holding the bar over or just behind my ears. So much more comfortable and improved my squat mechanics with just this one simple change!
